“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
God expects His children to be grateful for the countless blessings He gives daily. Sadly, some Christians forget His goodness almost immediately after receiving His blessings and start complaining.
For example, an ungrateful believer might say, “God, I asked for a B in my exam; couldn’t You have given me an A?” Another might finally get a job after years of disappointment, only to grumble, “Lord, You know this salary is too small; why not a better one?”
Many people focus so much on what they don’t have that they overlook the many benefits they already enjoy — good health, family, daily provision, and the gift of salvation. Yet, God continues to show mercy even when we fail to appreciate Him.
Dear child, you are still young and have your whole life ahead of you. Learn to be thankful always — both to God and to people. Ingratitude is a form of robbery against God because it denies Him the praise He deserves. Besides, a person’s joy can never be complete without a thankful heart. Gratitude opens the door for more blessings, while complaining shuts it.
So today, take time to reflect on God’s goodness and express your heartfelt thanks.
