The Topic of Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional for 28th August 2024 Is “Hidden From God’s Presence”

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 1; Isaiah 2; Matthew 11; Matthew 12

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 59:1-14

1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES: No man can hide his sin or himself from God because everything in heaven and on earth is bare before Him.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP:
Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
You will not become a stranger to God’s presence, in the name of Jesus

MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 28TH AUGUST 2024

From the beginning, as recorded in Genesis 3 in the Garden of Eden, God used to come down in the cool of the day to fellowship with man. This intimate relationship ended when the serpent seduced and deceived Eve into doing what God forbade them to do. The end really was that they fell from grace. Even before God would sanction them, they had run into hiding, away from God. Contrary to their usual warm relationship, Adam and Eve were nowhere to be found as expected by God. They hid themselves away from the presence of their Maker. What a disaster! They couldn’t enjoy that divine privilege any longer. Without the verdict from God, their inner conscience had put them to judgement.

This is the result of sin, be it secret or open. God sees and knows all things. No sinner can hide his or her sins away from Him. In fact, your sins will find you out. It usually ends up in shame and disgrace, rebuke from God and sometimes in death. God does not tolerate sin, no matter the size and manner of occurrence. Sin will create a big gulf between you and God.

Cain lost the presence of God to sin when he killed Abel, his brother. Eli lost his priesthood as a result of the sins of his children which he left unchecked. Saul was disobedient and rebellious to God and lost his position as a king in Israel. David was severely punished by God as a result of the sin of adultery with Bathsheba, and the murder of her husband, Uriah. In the New Testament, Ananias and Sapphira, a couple who were part of the early church, died both in one day because they lied to the Holy Spirit. These and many more are instances of the fact that you will be hidden from God’s presence if you engage in sin and remain unrepentant.

Beloved, God wants us to repent and He is faithful to forgive us our sins. David cried out in Psalm 19:13, “Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.” Genuine repentance is the way out!
