Another lesson we want to point out today in the life of Mordecai is that he had faith and that as he took the right steps in the right direction, his faith was rewarded. All through the book of Esther, Mordecai’s faith in God shined through as a beacon of hope to those around him and a source of strength for Esther. His words and actions reflected a man that wasn’t into prestige or following the crowd but of standing up (at times alone) on what he believed of God and His will.
Dearly beloved, God works behind the scenes (ie. in the hidden places where no man can see). This is clearly shown in chapter 6. God used the fact that the king could not sleep to finally bring Mordecai to a place of honour. God uses our enemies to do us good many times. Day and night, God is looking out for those who are faithful to Him.
Dear reader of this devotional, because of this, God richly blessed Mordecai as he strived to remind others of God’s provision for them. The Bible tells us that, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not see” (Hebrews 11:1). The second verse says, “For by it the elders obtained a good report.” Mordecal obtained a very good result that catapulted him to the highest point that a foreigner or captive could attain in that kingdom because of His faith in God.
True and enduring faith involves trusting God in all circumstances. This trust will enable the believer to remain loyal to God and His word at all times. Have you got to a cross road in life, and you are not sure of what to do next? Do you have so many enemies and opposition and there is no fulfilment in sight? Just believe that your miracle is on the way and God will have mercy upon you, in the name of Jesus.
