MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 17TH MAY 2024
Job 14:1 says, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.” Everyone faces adversity at one point or another in life. Troubles, problems, adversity or whatever name you may call it are the reasons why it is said that life is not easy. Everyone has where the shoe is pinching them. The Bible does not leave us in the dark about this reality of life. However, in the Bible also, we find solutions to all life’s problems.
Isaiah 43:1-2 says, “But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, 0 Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee”.
All of life’s battles can be summarised under the following two categories: the water of affliction and the fire of affliction. The Scriptures in the foregoing says, when and not if you go through them. Therefore, whether it is the water of affliction or the fire of affliction that you are passing through, God says, He will be with you. What matters most then is your attitude towards adversity. Some time ago, I met a certain man who could not reason normally. I asked what was wrong and he apologized and said, “Ah, adversity has affected my reasoning.” And he is a Christian. It shouldn’t be so because no matter what we are going through as Christians, God is able to make a way for us to manifest victoriously.
Therefore, face your adversity headlong knowing that God is on your side and victory is sure. Psalm 50:15 says, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
