Bible in One Year: Joel 1:1–3:21; Revelation 1:1–20; Psalm 128:1–6; Proverbs 29:18
Fire Scripture: 2 Peter 1:5–10
“5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.”
Memory Verse:
Proverbs 27:23 – “Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.”
Motivational Quotes:
Godly and responsible parents guard their children and wards with all they have from wicked predators.
Praise & Worship
Prophetic Word for Today:
You will not fail God in your parenting responsibilities, in the name of Jesus.
MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday 9th December 2025.
Parents are expected to live and act as good shepherds to their children. They should be committed to both the physical and spiritual well-being of their children. It is their responsibility to raise them according to God’s standards, spend quality time with them, seek out those who stray, bring them back to the right path, guide them, and protect them. Dear parent, are you fulfilling your God-given responsibility to raise your children in the discipline and admonition of the Lord as stated in Ephesians 6:4?
Today, children face an intense onslaught of satanic agenda, wrong influences, and their own imperfect tendencies (2 Timothy 2:22; 1 John 2:16). As a parent, five important responsibilities are required for shepherding your children: know them, feed them, guide them, protect them, and defend them. Let us consider these one by one.
Being a good shepherd begins with being available and approachable. Parents must spend quality time with their children and listen patiently to them (James 1:19). Good shepherds who desire to please God will create time for this, no matter how busy they are. Doing so fulfils Proverbs 27:23: “Know well the appearance of your flock.” By doing this, you can identify which of your children are spiritually or physically healthy and provide the help they need.
Parents must also feed their children physically and spiritually. Sometimes a sheep wanders because it is attracted by greener grass. Similarly, a child can drift toward spiritually dangerous influences, harmful friendships, or degrading entertainment (Proverbs 13:20). It is your responsibility to prevent this.
Identify your children’s weaknesses and lovingly correct them. Also recognise their strengths and help them develop godly virtues and values (2 Peter 1:5–8). Regular family worship is an excellent time to do this. Ensure all your children participate actively. Feeding your children spiritually—especially through family worship—is a major way to act as a good shepherd.
