29. And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.
30. And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33. And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday 22nd March 2025.
Much has been said about the successes of Esau. We want to look at his failures so that we don’t take the same path.
There is something the Bible calls the “Esau syndrome” in Hebrews 12:16 MSG: “Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite.” Esau was a careless man. Nothing about the future mattered to him. He didn’t see anything in his birthright. He loved and cared so much about the immediate, but the aftermath meant nothing to him. So carefree a man!
We need to guard against this syndrome in our lives, beloved. It is making lifelong decisions based on immediate impulses. Esau, because of short-term hunger, sold his birthright. He sold his portion. He sold his instrument of elevation. He sold his place in destiny for a plate of pottage. He could not endure a short moment of hunger to keep his destiny, just like some believers cannot resist the temptation for food, sex, money, etc., in order to keep their portion. Some believers can sell their portion for as low as 30 pieces of silver like Judas. No restraint whatsoever. They are not destiny-conscious. Once they see money, that’s all. For some, it is a short moment of sexual pleasure like Samson. A lot of glorious destinies have been destroyed on the altar of Delilah.
Some others can submit their crowns once they see food. These things ought not to be so, beloved. Where is the fruit of the Spirit called self-control? No discipline again? A lot of us are now throwing caution to the wind, behaving like the children of Lucifer. Phrases like “It doesn’t matter, it’s not a big deal, it’s not that deep, etc.” have crept into our midst. Sin does not matter to us again. Kissing and petting do not matter to so-called intending Christian couples again. Bribery and corruption have been favorably renamed among the Christian folks to not look like sin.
Esau carried something great inside of him; he had a birthright that he didn’t value. But Jacob knew the value of what Esau carried and was willing to offer anything like pottage to get it, and he got it. Do you know there are some devilish Jacobs out there that are waiting to collect the greatness you carry at all cost? They can see it, though you, the carrier, may not even know you carry anything. They will stop at nothing to get you down. We have to be on our guide, beloved. We cannot be casual with our destinies. May we not be harvested by the enemy, in the name of Jesus.

MORNING
- The enemy will not get me down, in the name of Jesus.
- Satanic Jacob, on an evil mission to snatch my birthright and blessing, you are a failure, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
- I refuse to be careless with my destiny, in the name of Jesus.

- Satanic opportunity assigned to attract me into destruction, I am not your candidate, destroy your owner, in the name of Jesus.
- Spirit of discernment, my life is available, overshadow me, in the name of Jesus.
- Esau syndrome, my life is not your candidate, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
- My stolen birthright, hear the Word of the Lord, be restored to me now, in the name of Jesus.
