MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday 22nd February 2025.

Collective captivity is not limited to families alone. Countries, cities, communities etc. can be under collective captivity. Galatians 3:1 says, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” Apostle Paul could identify that the whole country of Galatia had been bewitched. As far as he was concerned, their foolish behaviour could not have been ordinary; there was a power behind it; sorcery. They had been shown the way of the truth of the Lord, all of a sudden, they turned back seeking to be justified by the flesh, after they had started to walk in the Spirit. That madness could not have been with their right senses.

In Acts 8: 5-12, we see another example of where a whole city was held in captivity for a long time before Philip went down there to preach the gospel of the Lord to them. It says, “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. But there was a certain man, called Simon, which before time in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, ‘This man is the great power of God’. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” Thank God for sending Philip to the city of Samaria, if not, they would have languished forever in captivity.
