The Topic of MFM (Mountain Top Life) Daily Devotional for 20th March 2025 Is ”LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ESAU(IV)”.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR – Numbers 30:1-31:54, Luke 4:1-30, Psalm 63:1-11, Proverbs 11:20-21

FIRE SCRIPTUREGenesis 27:30-40
30. Now it happened, as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31. He also had made savory food and brought it to his father, and said to his father, “Let my father arise and eat of his son’s game, that your soul may bless me.”
32. And his father Isaac said to him, “Who are you?” So he said, “I am your son, your firstborn, Esau.”
33. Then Isaac trembled exceedingly, and said, “Who? Where is the one who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him—and indeed he shall be blessed.”
34. When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me—me also, O my father!”
35. But he said, “Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.”
36. And Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”
37. Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?”
38. And Esau said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me—me also, O my father!” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
39. Then Isaac his father answered and said to him: “Behold, your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above.
40. By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; and it shall come to pass, when you become restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.”

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday 20th March 2025.

Another lesson we can learn from the life of Esau is what I call “The Power of Persistence.” After Jacob manipulated their father Isaac to bless him instead of Esau, Isaac told Esau in verse 35, “Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.” Upon hearing this, Esau broke down in bitter tears and cried, but he was so wise to quickly get up and go back to ask his father for a blessing, even if it was just one. He was persistent. He did not take “No” for an answer. He knew he needed a blessing from his father. Without a blessing, his life would be miserable. He understood the power of being blessed, especially from an anointed father like Isaac. Although Isaac had told him that he had already given the blessings to Jacob, Esau did not relent. He pressed his father to bless him also.

“And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.” (Genesis 27:38). In verses 39-40, we see Isaac blessing him with even more than the one blessing that he asked for. He blessed him with the fatness of the earth and the dew of heaven. He also gave him the blessing of dominion. No wonder, Esau was able to make something meaningful out of his life.

The story of Elijah, when he was praying for rain, comes handy whenever we are talking about persistence, especially in the place of prayer. He had to pray the same prayer point for seven times before he saw a sign. How persistent are you in the place of prayer, beloved? Do you give up so soon simply because you have not seen a sign of answered prayers yet? Please keep praying! The answer will come, just that it may not come in your own timing.

The story of the widow and the judge in Luke 18:1-8 also corroborates the power of importunity. The judge told her “No,” but the widow stayed and pressed more. She stayed until she got a positive answer. How many times have you been told a “No,” and you just left and gave up? Keep pressing, beloved; you will surely get it.

Have you ever been told a “No”? Pray, go back there and ask again. Have they told you there’s no job? Pray, go back and reapply. Have doctors given you a negative medical report? Pray and go back for another checkup. Do not be a give-up. Esau got a “No” the first time, but he pressed further and got a “Yes.” Receive the staying power to press and get what you want, in Jesus’ name.
