MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday 1st June 2025.
The Bereans in the Bible serve as a good example for Christians. They stood out as people who were willing to search the scriptures and discover the truth for themselves. They had an open mind toward the word of God preached by Apostle Paul.
There are things we need to learn from the Berean Christians. We need to know about the pattern of their lives that set them apart and turned them into a good reference point—what they did differently, why the Bible gave them such a special and honorable mention.
The Bereans exhibited virtue in that they received the word of God with gladness and showed true spirituality. Rather than reject the gospel outrightly or accept it without proper understanding, they decided to do their due diligence. This ensured that they knew exactly what they were getting into. This is a lesson for believers today. We ought to have a deep understanding of the gospel we believe so that we can freely explain and defend it as the need arises.
Modeling Christian virtues—virtues of true spirituality—is crucial to discipleship, Christian growth, and effective ministry in the world. That is why Paul, a godly model, urged believers in Corinth (and all of us) to follow him as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). Without biblical and godly models, we will not be able to reach our full potential in Christ and overcome the relentless and numerous challenges the enemy throws at us. The Berean Christians were more noble-minded than the Jews in Thessalonica because they had the right attitude towards God’s word and God’s ministers, among other things. These qualities are worth emulating.
As you read today’s devotional, can you truly say that you are an example in good works, speech, and conduct? Are you Christ-like, and would any believer want to imitate you? Resolve to be a good example—a model for other Christians today. Let your light so shine that men would see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven!
