The Topic of MFM (Mountain Top Life) Daily Devotional for 18th March 2025 Is ”LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ESAU(II)”.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR – Numbers 26:52-28:15, Luke 3:1-22, Psalm 61:1-8, Proverbs 11:16-17
FIRE SCRIPTURE – Genesis 25:23-27
23. And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”
24. So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb.
25. And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau.
26. Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.
27. So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents.
MEMORY VERSE – Proverbs 12:11
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday 18th March 2025.
Genesis 25:27 NLT says, “As the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter. He was an outdoors man, but Jacob had a quiet temperament, preferring to stay at home.” Esau had mastered a skill in hunting whereas Jacob preferred the laid-back life, he loved staying at home, no job, no skill, just wanting to have it easy. I used to wonder how Esau, despite the fact that he wasn’t the chosen and prophetic one, still was able to make something great out of life. In this verse of the Scripture lies the answer. He worked hard and acquired a skill. Meanwhile, the blessed one was always at home lazing away. Esau chose a career in hunting and became skillful in it.
A story was told about two people that went to check out what they would become in life. One was told that he would be a king and the other told he would be useless in life. The proposed king, upon hearing this, decided not to work again, thinking that after all, he would soon become a king. The proposed useless one took the word as motivation to work really hard and so eventually became rich. When the town was looking for who to crown the next king, the criteria was that only a hardworking rich man could govern them. That was how the table turned for both of them despite the prophecy that had gone ahead.
What am I trying to point out? The prophetic one could be relegated to the back seat if he doesn’t work towards fulfilling the prophecy. Hard work could beat talent if talent doesn’t work hard. Christians are supposed to be the most phenomenal in every field of human endeavor. The old Christians had this testimony. Some of the great inventors were children of God. The modern Christians seem to have taken a different turn. This is because we no longer place importance on diligence. Non-Christians seem to be making more strides than some children of God. This is because modern Christians seem to believe more in praying than making a move. Some will not acquire any skill, they will not look for a job to do, they won’t do anything to improve on their job. All they do is go to church, pray and fast, and then expect manna to fall. It doesn’t work that way, beloved. We have to live a balanced life. The fact that prophecy is hanging on your head that you will be great does not automatically translate into fulfillment. You have to work hard to make your calling and election sure.
The way some believers handle their job with mediocrity is appalling. No touch of excellence, no tendency to go an extra mile. These days, some people prefer unbelievers to handle their jobs to believers. This is because some believers are not skilled at what they do. They do things anyhow. We need to re-orientate ourselves and wake up. People only pay and demand for skillfulness and excellence. Nobody pays for nonchalance and mediocrity.
There is a place for anointing and there’s a place for skill and professionalism. If you are anointed but refuse to learn the art and skill of your profession, people will not be moved to pay for your service. You need both to excel in life. May God give us understanding in the name of Jesus.
