MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday 11th April 2026.
God gave us the tongue for many uses; to taste, eat, and talk. The presence of this muscle-like structure in the mouth region is of great importance, both
physically and spiritually. None of our body organs was created in error. No matter the size, every organ has its own use and cannot be replaced by another.
A misuse of any organ, therefore, amounts to abuse, worse still, a sin.
The tongue is small but powerful; it can kill or make alive. It is the vehicle through which our thoughts are translated into words. Unfortunately, many humans misuse their tongues by talking carelessly, speaking toxic words that sting, and damaging the reputation of others. Whenever a child of God involves in gossip, backbiting, sander, tale bearing, and evil utterances, there is a problem that needs to be addressed urgently.
Such words neither glorify God nor edify men. When you speak without control, it is an indication of your heart’s condition (Matthew 12:34). Check your heart. Make sure your thoughts are clean and pure according to Philippians 4:8. When you harbour strange and ungodly imaginations in your heart, you are likely to talk and behave in a disorderly manner.
Beloved, the word of God counsels you to put your entire body, including your tongue, under control. Your words are a product of your thoughts. Therefore, when you discipline your mind, you end up disciplining your tongue. You cannot claim to be a child of God and yet, speak without wisdom and understanding.
There is a need to pray for the divine healing of your mind and tongue, so that your words become healthy, wholesome and edifying. When you talk carelessly, it affects not only you but also your relationships. People tend to avoid you because they don’t want to be hurt or offended by your words.
Apart from this negative effect of your words on people, they are also offensive to God. If you’re guilty of this, please desire and determine to make a change. Pray that your life will manifest the fruit of temperance.
