JOYCE MEYER MESSAGE FOR TODAY 5TH MAY 2024.
When we love God, we want to have clean, pure hearts before Him. But purity and cleanness of heart do not come naturally to us; the Holy Spirit works them into us. Notice that David asks God to create a clean heart in him. He knows he cannot do it for himself. When we cry out to God sincerely, asking Him to cleanse and purify our hearts, He lovingly does it.
Hebrews 10:22 speaks of the necessity of a clean heart drawing near to God, saying: Let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water (AMP).
There is a price to pay for a pure and clean heart, and that price is being willing to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit. But there is also a reward for a pure, clean heart: We will be blessed; we will see God, meaning that we will hear from Him and recognize Him at work in our lives (Matthew 5:8). We don’t have to be afraid to commit to allow God to do in us the deep work that cleanses and purifies our hearts. We may not always feel comfortable about the truths He will bring to us, but if we will take care of our part—holding to purity, integrity, moral courage, and godly character—God will make sure we are blessed. He is an expert at removing worthless things from our hearts and lives while retaining the things that are valuable.
