Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.
JOHN HAGEE DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE / SERMON FOR TODAY 7TH AUGUST 2023.
Placing our hope firmly in the Lord promises abundant blessings. Even in the most difficult days, God will carry us through when our expectation is in Him.
In today’s passage, the prophet Jeremiah describes a person whose hope is in the Lord as a tree that spreads out its roots by the river (Jeremiah 17:8). We draw vitality from Him.
This person does not fear when the heat comes or when he goes through the fire. Like the three Hebrew children, He will walk us through to the other side without even a whiff of smoke clinging to our garments (Daniel 3:27).
He will not be afraid, and his leaf will remain green (Jeremiah 17:8). When others pass out, we will prosper. In the year of drought, we will drink deep of the never-ending Living Water (John 4:13-14).
This beautiful tree will never cease to bear fruit. How comforting to know that, even in the desert times of our lives when the heat threatens to dry up our hope, we will continue to bear fruit for God’s kingdom.
Even if you are struggling through a year of drought, do not be anxious. Picture that stately tree planted beside a clear, rolling river with roots dug in deep to soak up the life-giving flow. Picture the wind tossing its green leaves and branches laden down with fruit. You are blessed when your hope is the Lord.
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May your roots grow ever deeper in Jesus Christ. As you thirst for righteousness, may the Living Water come to quench and refresh you. May you bear much fruit for the kingdom of God as you hope in the name of Jesus… Amen.
