DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
The expression, “The only thing that is constant in life is change” is used to mean that change is an inherent and inevitable part of life. Nothing remains constant forever. This concept has been embraced by various cultures and philosophers. The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus was famous for saying “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man”. However true this saying may be, it does not hold when it comes to God, His word, standards, and expectations for man.
This fact is emphasized as Moses calls the surviving generation of the children of Israel who left Egypt to renew their covenant with God. Moses spoke plainly in reminding them that God’s demands from them were not different from what He required from their fathers. Generational change does not alter God’s expectations of His people. The covenant even binds the generations unborn and includes all categories of people, free or bond, rich or poor, high or low.
Amid shifting values and societal norms, the church must hold firm to the unchanging truths of God and His words. With people increasingly questioning and rejecting Christian beliefs, churches are facing pressure to adapt and compromise on key moral issues. The widespread rejection of biblical teachings on topics such as morality, marriage, and sexuality is becoming more prevalent. Some individuals believe that certain groups are exempt from following the teachings of the Bible, leading to a dangerous trend of moral relativism. The church needs to stand firm in upholding biblical principles in a rapidly changing world.
God’s words are timeless and apply to everyone, regardless of their background or status. Changing God’s word or failing to pass them on to future generations means we lose out on His promises and blessings. It is essential to teach the word of God to all, especially to our children, so they can carry on the faith. God’s word remains consistent through all times, and it is up to us to stay true to it and spread its teachings to everyone around us.
