DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Today, Honda is recognised as one of the world’s leading brands in mobility and power solutions. However, few people know that its founder, Soichiro Honda, grew up in poverty.
Despite his humble beginnings, his mother constantly reminded him, “You were born for something great.” He clung to those words even when faced with repeated setbacks.
At one point, his first factory was destroyed during World War II. Another was later lost to an earthquake. Yet, the promise spoken over his life remained an anchor that fuelled his perseverance and eventual success.
If the reassuring words of a human parent could inspire such resilience and achievement, how much more should believers rest confidently in the unfailing promises of the Almighty God.
Abraham is a classic example of unwavering faith. God promised to make him the father of many nations, yet both he and his wife Sarah were long past childbearing age—Abraham was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90.
Against all human logic, Abraham believed God’s promise. He trusted not in circumstances but in the character of the Promisor—“God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
Abraham’s faith produced results. Isaac was born when their bodies were as good as dead. Scripture highlights key attributes of Abraham’s faith:
“Against hope, believed in hope” — there was no natural reason to hope.
He considered not his own body… nor the deadness of Sarah’s womb — he looked beyond limitations.
He staggered not at the promise through unbelief — his faith was resolute.
He gave glory to God — faith glorifies God.
He was fully persuaded — he trusted completely in God’s ability to perform what He promised.
God honoured Abraham’s faith and counted it for righteousness.
As you journey through this New Year, anchor your faith firmly on God’s promises concerning your life, family, ministry, and endeavours. Do not be overwhelmed by visible challenges or apparent impossibilities. Rest confidently in God’s power, faithfulness, and goodwill. Like Abraham, your outcome will exceed expectations.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Faithlessness is doubting God’s ability or trustworthiness.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 8–9
