DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

The German dramatist, Bertolt Brecht, lived through the horrors of two world wars. These experiences pushed him into deep despair and hopelessness.

Reflecting on life, he concluded that “Life is short and so is money.” This verdict came from his realization of the futility of wealth and fame.

Despite his achievements, he suffered failed marriages, inner turmoil, and lacked peace—even after escaping Europe for America. For him, neither life nor its possessions brought fulfilment.

In contrast, Jesus Christ, the Author of life and the Giver of all its riches, teaches that man would not sink into such despair if he abides by God’s divine order.

He declares that enjoyment of life’s blessings comes only when God and His righteousness are placed first in all pursuits. Love for God’s Kingdom, holiness, separation from worldliness, compassion for the poor, readiness for Christ’s second coming, and selfless service in God’s vineyard must be our priorities.

Simply put, man’s greatest pursuit should be God Himself.

Despite enormous advancements in science, medicine, and technology, humanity still lacks true peace and joy because of misplaced priorities. Prosperity surrounds modern man, yet agony persists. Like a farmer harvesting abundant crops while writhing in pain, today’s world worships fleeting riches instead of the eternal God.

True balance and fulfilment return only when God is given first place. Seeking Him releases blessings that add no sorrow. The relentless rat-race of life must not push God aside.

Instead of chasing material things first, we must allow God to prepare the ground for lasting blessings through righteous living. Man must love God more than his selfish desires—only then can he experience genuine and lasting increase.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

There is no fulfilment in any endeavour that is outside the will of God.
