DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Four ministers were once discussing the merits of different Bible translations. One preferred the King James Version for its beautiful, simple English. Another chose the American Standard Version because of its literalness and closeness to the original texts.
The third preferred Moffatt’s Translation for its modern vocabulary. The fourth minister, however, remained quiet. When asked for his opinion, he said, “I like my mother’s translation best.”
The others were puzzled. He continued, “Yes, my mother translated the Bible into everyday life—and it was the most convincing translation I ever saw.”
What a powerful testimony of positive influence!
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul is presented as an unwavering minister of the gospel—one whose influence shaped the early Church.
His consistency and steadfast devotion to the truth drew trusted companions like Barnabas and Titus to his side. His message was the same to all: Christ is the only Saviour, and His atoning death is the only cure for sin.
Paul did not shy away from preaching the unfiltered truth, whether to Gentiles or to prominent Jewish leaders. He strongly resisted false brethren who tried to corrupt the gospel by imposing circumcision as a requirement for salvation.
His bold stand ensured that the truth of the gospel remained pure among the believers.
To make a positive impact today, believers must follow Paul’s example:
Live out the Christian life authentically
Remain uncompromising in preaching the gospel
Stand firmly against false teachings
Resist influences that contradict the purity of Scripture
Only then can the Church remain holy and the truth continue to shine brightly.
