DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
During election campaigns, candidates often make enticing promises to win over voters. Unfortunately, many of these promises are forgotten shortly after they assume office. God’s promises, however, are not like the catchy campaign slogans of politicians.
When God says, “I will do a new thing,” He means exactly that—and He will surely bring it to pass.
In today’s passage, God encourages His people to forget their former troubles and the oppression they suffered among the nations.
He promises them a fresh beginning after years of hardship. God reassures them that their future will be better and that He will restore them to fulfil the purpose for which He created them—to glorify Him.
This promise reminds us today not to allow past mistakes, failures, or painful experiences to define our lives. While it is good to learn from the past, we must not let it hinder our progress. No matter the disappointments or challenges of previous years, God’s promise of a new thing assures us that He is able to give us a better tomorrow.
However, merely stepping into a new year does not automatically bring change. We must intentionally renew our mindset, embrace new opportunities, and align our actions with God’s purpose.
For the Israelites, God’s promise of a new thing echoed their deliverance from Egypt. Though they were freed from Egyptian bondage, they later fell into Babylonian captivity.
Through the prophet Isaiah, God reassured them of another fresh beginning—He would defeat Babylon, make a way through the wilderness, provide rivers in the desert, and protect them as they journeyed back to their land.
As we enter this New Year, God desires that we experience a new beginning and encounter His love afresh. He offers victory over past sins, failures, and limitations.
However, this new start requires faith, sincere repentance, and deliberate action. We must abandon excuses and procrastination, examine our lives honestly, refocus on God’s Word, and trust Him completely.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
He gets stuck in the past who cannot change his attitude and focus.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 4–5
