DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
It is easy in life to take God’s blessings for granted, especially when things are going smoothly. Many, including believers, often forget how God’s mercy, protection, and favour have upheld and beautified their lives until they pause to take stock.
King David, however, maintained a heart of gratitude throughout the highs and lows of his life. Even in danger, he remained thankful; in prosperity, he remained humble.
Today’s text captures one of David’s most heartfelt prayers of gratitude. God had given him victory over all his enemies and granted him rest.
He lived in a beautiful palace and enjoyed honour and abundance. Although God did not permit him to build the temple, David was deeply moved and comforted by God’s promise that his kingdom would be established forever, and that his son would build the house of God.
David reflected on how God lifted him from obscurity to prominence. He acknowledged that:
Every battle he won was by God’s power.
Every promotion he received came by God’s grace.
Every honour and influence he gained was the result of God’s favour, not personal merit.
In response, he poured out profound thanksgiving and prayed for the fulfilment of all God’s promises.
As we reflect on our own journey this year, we should also recognise how far the Lord has brought us. Many storms could have drowned us, but God kept us. Many battles could have crushed us, but He fought for us. Many needs could have overwhelmed us, but He supplied.
This is a season to raise our Ebenezer (“Thus far the Lord has helped us”).
We must also:
Speak often of God’s goodness.
Acknowledge His mercy—both seen and unseen.
Strengthen our faith through His unfailing promises.
God knows our needs even before we mention them. He knows the best timing and the best gifts for us. Our duty is to trust Him wholeheartedly and remain thankful.

Gratitude to God attracts regular blessings from Him.
