DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
A young woman once battled a chronic illness for many years. She consulted numerous doctors, and countless prayers were offered on her behalf, yet relief seemed elusive. One day, while reading Isaiah 53, her attention was arrested by the words, “by His stripes we are healed.”
Suddenly, she understood that healing goes beyond the physical. She realised that Christ’s sacrifice addressed not only sickness, but also emotional wounds, spiritual brokenness, and mental burdens.
Though her healing did not manifest instantly, something profound took root in her heart—faith. She believed the report, and that belief transformed her outlook and experience. In time, she recovered.
Isaiah’s prophecy vividly reveals Christ’s suffering as the price paid for humanity’s salvation. His pain secured our cure. The prophet begins by highlighting Christ’s humble and unassuming appearance.
Jesus came without earthly grandeur—no royal procession, no outward beauty to attract admiration. Yet hidden beneath that simplicity was heaven’s greatest remedy for a fallen world. He was God’s solution to sin, clothed in human flesh.
Christ’s earthly life was marked by rejection, sorrow, and suffering. The very world He came to save despised and rejected Him. Still, He willingly embraced the pain, bearing the full weight of our transgressions and iniquities.
More than that, He carried our sicknesses and griefs. Every stripe on His back speaks of restoration—healing for the soul, deliverance for the oppressed, and wholeness for broken lives. Scripture affirms this truth clearly (Matthew 8:16–17; 1 Peter 2:24).
However, there is a vital requirement woven into this promise—faith. “Who has believed our report?” Isaiah asks. The benefits of Christ’s atonement are available to all, but they are not automatic. They must be received by faith. Salvation requires belief in Christ, and healing flows where faith is present. When the report is believed, its blessings are experienced.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Jesus bore our wounds so that we might bear His wholeness.
