DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall—once a powerful symbol of division between East and West Germany—fell unexpectedly. For nearly three decades, it had stood as a monument to political tension and apparent permanence.
Many believed it would endure indefinitely. Yet, almost overnight, the structure that seemed unshakable collapsed. What appeared permanent proved temporary.
Psalm 90, a prayer of Moses, reminds us of a profound truth: human systems, institutions, and achievements are fleeting, but God remains eternal. Moses contrasts God’s everlasting nature with humanity’s fragile existence.
While people live brief lives—like grass that flourishes in the morning and withers by evening—God exists from everlasting to everlasting. He was before the mountains were formed and will remain long after the present world passes away.
Just as many once trusted in the seeming permanence of political power, people today often place their confidence in wealth, status, technology, or human progress. Yet nations rise and fall. Leaders come and go. Generations pass. Only God remains unchanged.
In an age preoccupied with longevity, legacy, and control over time, Psalm 90 calls us to humility. Time is not ours to command. Our lives are limited, but God is timeless. Rather than fearing life’s brevity, believers should find comfort in God’s unchanging nature. He is our refuge in every generation.
This truth calls us to three responses:
Trust Him fully — because He alone is eternal and sovereign.
Use time wisely — investing in what has eternal value rather than temporary gain.
Live humbly — recognising that we are dependent on the One who holds time in His hands.
One day, every person will stand before this eternal God. Therefore, let us live purposefully, reverently, and wisely.
