DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943 with an iron fist. His authoritarian philosophy, which he termed “natural law,” was built on the belief that the strong should dominate the weak. Using his journalistic skill and political cunning, he silenced opposition voices and ruthlessly imposed fascist ideology on Italy’s socio-political landscape.
However, like all despotic rulers, Mussolini eventually reaped what he sowed. His infamous alliance with Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany sealed his downfall during the closing days of the Second World War.
While attempting to flee Italy, he was captured by communist partisans—people he had previously oppressed—along with his mistress, Clara Petacci. Both were executed, and their bodies were publicly displayed as a grim spectacle. Indeed, he sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind.
David’s final song in our text vividly portrays the principle of divine reciprocity. God recompenses righteousness with goodness and never overlooks the deeds of the proud and ungodly.
Just as He brought Mussolini low, so He dealt with the enemies of His servant David. Through divine mercy, David was delivered from formidable foes such as Goliath, the Philistines, and even internal threats like Absalom and Ahithophel.
David testified, “The LORD is my lamp.” When God becomes your light, He dispels every darkness and turns night into day. God is impartial—He rewards obedience and judges wickedness without bias.
Those who cultivate His grace will find Christ standing for them in life’s most desperate moments. Conversely, those who choose selfish oppression and disregard the fear of God and His Word will ultimately face divine recompense.
However, those who treasure God’s Word above earthly gain and submit wholeheartedly to His will are assured of His unmerited favour. Wisdom lies in standing firmly on God’s side, rather than risking His fiery judgement—against which there is no appeal.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The God of all grace is also the God of justice.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
