DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
It is often said that life is not a bed of roses. The best things in life are usually products of determination, sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance. They leave no room for fearfulness, frivolity, or faintheartedness.
The legendary British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, once told new members of his government, “I have nothing to offer you but blood, toil, tears, and sweat.” The Christian pilgrimage is no different.
The believer is charged to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. This means trusting completely in the power and sufficiency of the Lord, without shrinking in the face of trials.
The truths we have received are not only meant to help us finish our race successfully but must also be passed on to others who will, in turn, spread the gospel faithfully.
Like a good soldier of Jesus Christ, the believer must endure hardship and avoid entanglement with worldly distractions in order to please the One who has enlisted him.
As an athlete, he must remain disciplined and spiritually fit to win the race. As a farmer, he must labour patiently, knowing that a bountiful harvest comes only through diligence. These illustrations contain timeless spiritual lessons applicable to believers of all ages.
We must understand that the Christian race cannot be run by human strength, skills, or intellect alone. Victory comes through dependence on the grace of God. The evangelisation of the world requires faithful transmission of the gospel from one generation to another, teaching the whole counsel of God.
This will inevitably provoke opposition, persecution, and suffering in a corrupt world system. However, we must remain steadfast, knowing that our pains in service are not in vain when our lives bring glory to God and souls are won for Christ.

A Christian who cannot endure pain cannot enjoy gain.
