DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet presents a dramatic and tragic picture of love that was passionate yet misguided. Though intense, their love ended in death because it lacked the foundation of true, godly love. In contrast, Christ Jesus remains the eternal spring and foundation of genuine love.
True love is not merely emotional or physical; it flows from a heart rooted in God. When love is sincere and unfeigned, it reflects the pure love that emanates from God Himself. This was the nature of the affection shared between the Shulamite and her Shepherd lover. Their expressions of love were spiritual, deliberate, and deeply meaningful.
The vivid imagery used by the Shulamite paints the beauty of spring in the Middle East—winter giving way to warmth, flowers blossoming, birds singing, and new life emerging. This season symbolises renewal, joy, and vitality. Such is the effect of God’s love when it takes root in the human heart: it brings healing warmth, strength, and stability.
Beloved, only the love of Christ planted in your heart can awaken true love within you. When this love is firmly established, it stands unshaken—like the Rock of Gibraltar—despite life’s storms. Christ’s love will preserve your life, guide your choices, and keep your relationships pure and resilient.
It must be emphasised that genuine love flows from God’s saving grace. Without salvation, the carnal mind cannot truly love, for it is naturally opposed to God and, by extension, to others.
If you desire to walk in Christlike love—one that gives, forgives, and reaches out—then you must experience transformation through salvation and the continual renewal of your mind.
