DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE FOR TODAY

Jonathan Edwards was a Puritan preacher in the 1700s. He was one of the most respected preachers in his days. He married his wife in 1727 and they were blessed with eleven children.
Every night when Mr. Edwards was home, he would spend an hour conversing with his family and then praying and blessing each child. Jonathan and his wife Sarah passed on a great, godly legacy to their children which contributed to their blessed attainments years after their demise.
In just six verses of the text today, the word ‘bless’ and ‘blessed’ were used six times which signifies the purpose of this Psalm. It was intended to bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.
Rather than go along with the heathen who were said to have deviated into the despicable act of idolatry, the believers held on to their trust in God and maintained true worship. The blessing was extended to the children and passed on from generation to generation.
The deviation of Israel into idolatry was without excuse. Abandoning the worship of the true God in favor of dead gods was a very foolish thing to do. It produced so much grief and sorrow and brought their nation into captivity and bondage.
Those who retain true worship today and guide their children in the way of truth are blessed. The Lord shall increase them more and more and cause everything they do to prosper.
Your heavens shall drop down dew and your land shall not be barren. You will always have more than sufficient to meet your need in life if you continue in the fear of the Lord.
This is why the text stresses the concern of the Lord for those who fear and glorify Him. You must believe in His mighty power to change your situations for the best. Then you shall hear the sound of the abundance of the rain of God’s blessing.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  God blesses and honors the generations of those who seek Him.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 15-16
