ANGLICAN COMMUNION DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY.
The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 9th September 2024 Is “Blessing In Believing”
Read: Luke 1: 39-55(NKJV)
39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.
41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”
46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.
51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty.
54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy,
55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 9TH SEPTEMBER 2024.
As we celebrate the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary today, the prophetic words of Elizabeth and Mary’s song (vv. 42-55) show the great blessings in believing God’s word and acting accordingly. Mary’s response in verse 38 shows that she believed the message of the angel and the good news in verses 35 to 37. She acted promptly by making the trip to Elizabeth’s home where she spent about 3 months (vv.39-40, 56). That trip brought immeasurable encouragement to both women.
Filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth made the declarations in verse 42, and the 6-month baby in her womb leaped for joy! (vv. 36, 44). Mary’s joy and gratitude are evident in her song, (the Magnificat)(vv.46-55). She praised God for His greatness, love, and mercy (vv.48-49, 54-55). She declared that God’s mercy is upon anyone who fears Him (v.50). Note also the great lessons in verses 51 through 53.
When you listen to any preaching, do you verify that it is really God’s word (Acts 17: 11)?Thereafter, do you believe it and act accordingly? You are blessed when you believe God’s Word and act in faith (v.45; John 13: 17; James 1: 22).
PRAYER: OLord, help me to believe your word fully and live by it.
