Anglican Communion Devotional
Daily Fountain 2022

The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 29th June 2024 Is ”Who Is Jesus Christ To You?”

Read: Matthew 16: 13-20 (NKJV)

  1. When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
  2. So they said, “Some [say] John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
  3. He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
  4. Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  5. Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed [this] to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
  6. “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
  7. “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
  8. Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 29TH JUNE 2024.

In our text today, Jesus asked His disciples “Who do men say I, the Son of man, am?” Different answers from the public opinion were given by the disciples. Jesus then became particular and asked “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus told him that he did not get that revelation from flesh and blood but from the Father in heaven. Jesus wanted to verify the understanding of the disciples about Himself and He got the answer He needed at the end of the day: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Dear reader, each person must answer the question of who Jesus Christ is.

Today, there are different views of who Jesus is. To some, He is not more than the Provider or Supplier of all their needs; some hold the view that He is their Deliverer from the powers of their oppressors while to some others, He is the Giver of jobs and other goodies of life.
However, knowing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour from sin is very crucial. He is the Giver of the life of God which was lost in the garden at Eden. Without this knowledge, every other knowledge is vain.

PRAYER: Lord, I confess that You are my Saviour and Lord!
