ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 24TH NOVEMBER 2025.
The expression “I am coming quickly” used by our Lord Jesus Christ in today’s reading shows nearness and certainty of his coming. He will surely come; nothing can prevent him.
Scientists tell us that work is done when energy is expended. Christ is coming with his reward, and He will pay everyone according to their work.
The reward Christ will give us will depend on the type of work we did on earth. If you do a good work, you will receive a good reward, but if you do a bad work, you will receive a bad reward (punishment).
To determine the quality of a person’s work, that work will be tested with fire, and if it survives, a good reward will be given.
However, if it doesn’t, no reward will be given (1Cor.3:12-15). If you depart from sin, serve God sincerely, and live for him, help the poor, the sick, the widow, the helpless and the indigent, you are doing a good work.
But if you live in sin, fight with people, cheat, lie, steal, take bribe and commit sexual immorality, you are doing a work, but it is a bad work. Your work will determine your reward or punishment. Now, ask yourself: What type of work am I doing?
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, help me to do good work as I wait for your coming, Amen!
