24 Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
25 Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, “You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not!”

27 Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 21ST FEBRUARY 2025.

After Jesus Christ was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, He got arrested and was Simon Peter who summoned the courage to follow him, though from afar. others), he denied his Saviour and Lord, flatly; He only realized himself when the rooster crowed after three denials as Jesus had told him and he wept bitterly (Matt.26:69-75).

We may be quick to judge and condemn Peter’s action. Let us pause and ask ourselves this question; How many times have we denied our Lord and Saviour when faced with bitter situations such as hunger, sickness, provocations, lack, persecution, threat to life, or even something less threatening? To follow Jesus Christ entails dying to self (Luke 9:23)and being determined to identify with him at aIl times. As his disciples, may we never deny him no matter the circumstance! Instead, may we all sustain the grace, courage and determination to stand with him as a proof of our faith and commitment to him at all times.

PRAYER:
Father; endow me with the strength to be committed to you, now and always. Amen!
