ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 18TH MARCH 2025.
Marriage, like other life issues, faces many challenges such as domestic violence, childlessness, sickness, adultery, etc. The Law of Moses permits a man exclusively to issue a certificate of divorce to a wife that displeases him. However, the purpose of marriage in the bible is that a man shall leave his father and mother and shall become united and cleaved to his wife, and they shall become one flesh (Gen. 2:24). Even if cases of infidelity are established, repentance and forgiveness should be sought so that healing of hurtful partners can occur and relationship restored. This of course is not easy but the love of Christ is the only thing that can help one to love and forgive the unlovable.
Divorce rate is high in society today, even among brethren and church leaders. This is really unfortunate, and ought not to be. The devil has found marriage a good breeding ground to execute his wicked programme in order to send people to hellfire. Knowing this, we need intentional effort to guard you marriages with prayers. We must also follow biblical principles to make our marriage Christ-centered, where his glory and peace reign. Remember that God hates divorce (Mal. 2:16) because He is seeking godly seeds. So we must avoid behaviours that will threaten the unity of the family.
PRAYER: O Lord, intervene in our marriages and help us to build Christian homes, Amen!
