The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 17th March 2025 is “The Danger Of A Lustful Look”

Read: Matthew 5:27-30(NKJV)

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 17TH MARCH 2025.

Our text today continues to teach the superiority of Jesus over the law. It explains what a lustful look is and its ability to send one to hellfire. A lustful look is a very strong sexual desire for someone. The Law of Moses said, “Do not commit adultery” (Ex. 20:14). In Christ, a lustful look is equivalent to adultery and both will receive equal punishment of hell fire. These days, people engage in lustful activities such as pornography, fondling, etc., secretly and publicly and are approved by men and the world system.

Knowing the consequences of a lustful look, urgent action is needed by every believer to guard his/her sexual life. To achieve this, verses 29-30 stipulate a way of escape, figuratively using plucking of the eyes and cutting of hands. This underscores the need for harsh actions to deal with anything that will send one to hellfire. A strong personal resolve with the help of the Holy Spirit is also an antidote. Secondly, looking unto Jesus as well as reading and meditating on the word of God, bring victory over lust. As Psalm 119:32-37 state, a life of prayer is necessary and will keep us in tune with God.

PRAYER: Father, help me to deal with lusts and other habits that can send me to hell fire, Amen!
