The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 16th November 2024 Is “Servants Of The Most High God!”

Read: Daniel 3: 26-30(NKJV)

26 Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.
27 And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.
28 Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!
29 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 16TH NOVEMBER 2024.

In our text, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, have graduated from exiled and enslaved Israelite seeds and princes to children full of knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom who are ‘Servants of the Most High God.’They served God in the market place – their place of duty. Though they were not ordained, they decided not to defile themselves (Dan. 1: 8) and kept God’s word in a foreign land and God says, “He who honours me, I will honour”(1 Sam.2:30).

Nebuchadnezzar saw the mighty acts of God in saving these dedicated young men who were full of faith, from the burning fiery furnace which had earlier devoured the seven men who threw them in. He also saw the ‘fourth man’ with them in the furnace and the fire that had no power on their bodies or garments, therefore he called them ‘servants of the Most High God!’

This national miracle made the king to worship the God of Israel who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. The king made a decree immediately, (v.29), and promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Every true servant of God must be dedicated, have faith and trust in God and desist from serving or worshipping any other god except the Most High God. Those who go to idols and native doctors for power to do miracles are servants of the devil.

PRAYER: Make us strong in faith to manifest your power, dear Lord.
