ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 16TH DECEMBER 2025.

There are several seemingly impossible stories in the Bible. We have the stories of a flood that covered the earth, a sea divided so people can walk through, the sun that keeps shining until a battle is won, and a man who survives three days in the belly of a fish.

Similarly, in today’s passage we read about the impossible story of God’s angel who tells Mary that she would conceive in her womb through the direct operation of the Holy Spirit, who would overshadow her, notwithstanding that she was a virgin who had never had a sexual relationship with a man.

However, Mary received the message with faith (v.38b). Indeed, God is the Creator of all things and can alter what He has created. He can break into natural laws and cause the supernatural to happen.

Like Mary, we need faith that opens up new dimensions, making us understand that what we see is not all there is, and that with God all things are possible.

By faith, we learn to recognize and appreciate the impossible things God does for us each day such as forgiveness, healing, provision, etc. The more we see the impossible acts of God with the eyes of faith, the stronger our faith in him will become.

PRAYER POINT: Father, grant me the eyes of faith to see You as the God of impossible things, Amen.
