The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 11th July 2024 Is “Our Exceedingly Great Reward”
Read: Genesis 15: 1-21(NKJV)
15:1. After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I [am] your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
15:2. But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house [is] Eliezer of Damascus?”
15:3. Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”
15:4. And behold, the word of the LORD [came] to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”
15:5. Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
15:6. And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
15:7. Then He said to him, “I [am] the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”
15:8. And he said, “Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”
15:9. So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
15:10. Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds in two.
15:11. And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
15:12. Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror [and] great darkness fell upon him.
15:13. Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land [that is] not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years.
15:14. “And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.
15:15. “Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.
15:16. “But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites [is] not yet complete.”
15:17. And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces.
15:18. On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates —
15:19. “the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites,
15:20. “the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
15:21. “the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 11TH JULY 2024.
I have often taken little children outside the house to attempt counting the stars in the evening sky. Each time, we find these stars uncountable, as Abraham was told in verse 5. Since he did not have even one child at the time, it remained a puzzle to him how these uncountable descendants would come. This explains his question in verse 3. God responded that they would come from his own body, through his wife Sarah, who was considered barren (v.4; Gen 17: 19). Although the promise looked physically impossible, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness (v.6).
Under divine direction, Abraham prepared sacrifices, which God accepted by fire miraculously (vv.9-10, v17). The communion with God was deep and varied, and he received clear revelations about the future of his descendants (vv.13-16).At the end, God made a covenant with Abraham, and told him clearly the extent of the physical boundaries of the Land of Promise (vv.18-21).God is still our exceedingly great reward today, if we can only believe Him. Do you have enduring challenges of life such as childlessness, sickness and the like? Have you made any spiritual sacrifices concerning your challenges? Draw closer to Him to hear him say to you in reassuring tones “I am the Lord”(v.7).
PRAYER: O Lord, be my Shield, my great reward.
PRAYER POINTS ON TODAY’S DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL

1. Father in the name of Jesus, thank You for the grace to see this day in good health and sound mind.
2. Father, thank You for the special gift of life, many wished to see this day, but they couldn’t.
3. Thank You Jesus for being there for us, Your children.
4. Thank You Lord for Your plans for me this year. They are plans of good, not of evil, to give me a successful and good end.
5. Father, please forgive me all my known and unknown sins, and give me power to overcome sin and its lustful desires, in Jesus’ name
6. Father, I believe in You and in all Your promises in Jesus’ name.
7. LORD, divinely guide me on what to do to command Your blessings upon my life, in Jesus’ name
8. Father, please, give me a clearer revelation about my future and the future of my children, in Jesus’ name.
9. Covenant keeping God, please, bring to pass all Your covenant for my life, in Jesus’ name.
10. O Lord, please, reward all my labours and sacrifices in Your vineyard, in Jesus’ name.
11. LORD, help us to get it right in Nigeria, and let Your perfect will be enforced on us in Jesus’ name.
12. Heavenly Father, let Your peace reign in this country,
13. Whether the devil likes it or not, I will make heaven and receive my eternal rewards in Jesus’ Name.
14. This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
