Read: 2 John 1:1-6(NKJV)
1. THE ELDER, To the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth,
2. because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:
3. Grace, mercy, [and] peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4. I rejoiced greatly that I have found [some] of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.
5. And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
6. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 10TH DECEMBER 2025.
Over the last couple of days, our meditations have in one way or the other, been related to love. There is something that God must be telling us.
We know that if we take love away from Christianity, what may be left would be Judaism. Love is the bedrock of Christianity. John was never able to leave off the message of love.
Even in his 2nd epistle, he pleaded in verse 5: And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
There is nothing more and there is nothing new we can say until we all come to understand, appreciate and imbibe the spirit of love which is the trademark of our Christian faith.
If we say we are Christians, if we say we are born of God, if we desire to overcome the world, then we must show forth and share love to the brethren. Until we all become an embodiment of love, the church will be far from perfection.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, may nothing else show forth from my life except your love, Amen!
