RCCG Sunday School Teacher’s Manual September 2026 Lesson No 2
OPENING PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to comprehend the concept of your precious blood.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The teacher should allow the assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.
BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Peter 1:17-21 (KJV)
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
MEMORY VERSE: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; – Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Blood is the vital fluid that circulates through the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells and removing waste products. It is the core aspect of life. There are four components of blood: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. The Bible makes us understand that blood is the centre of life (Leviticus 17:11). The blood of Jesus symbolises the ultimate sacrifice and fulfilment of God’s covenant. The blood of Jesus represents cleansing, covenant and the foundation of the Christian life (Hebrews 9:14-15).
LESSON AIM: To understand the benefits of the blood of Jesus.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: Through this lesson, students should be able to:
a. Know what blood represents in the human body.
b. Understand the significance of the blood of Jesus to believers.
c. State the benefits of the blood of Jesus.
d. Explain the requirements to be a beneficiary of the blood of Jesus.

LESSON OUTLINES:
- THE BENEFITS
- REQUIREMENTS TO BE A BENEFICIARY
LESSON OUTLINE 1: THE BENEFITS
The teachers should ask the students to mention the benefits believers derive from the blood of Jesus.
i. As believers in Christ, we are forgiven of our sins by the blood of Jesus.
ii. We have been freed from the stain, shame, guilt, and consequences of sin (Hebrews 9:22; 1 John 1:7-9).
iii. Jesus’ shed blood paid the price necessary to redeem us (Hebrews 9:12; Ephesians 1:7).
iv. Jesus took the wrath we deserved on Him when He died, shed His blood and declared us justified (Romans 5:9).
v. Sin separated us from God; the shed blood of Jesus reconciled us back to God (Colossians 1:20).
vi. We are washed in the blood of Jesus, consecrated, and set apart by God to be used as holy vessels (Hebrews 13:12).
vii. Those who believe in Jesus and place their faith in His finished work on the cross receive eternal life (John 3:36).
viii. We can boldly come into God’s presence at any time because of the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 10:19; Ephesians 2:13).
ix. Jesus came as the fulfilment of the law (Romans 10:4).
x. By His death, He brought the New Covenant into effect. He shed His blood to guarantee the “better promises” of the New Covenant to all who believe in Him. (Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 8:6).
xi. We are healed by His blood (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).
xii. We are victorious. The events of the Passover during the Exodus from Egypt were a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross (Exodus 12:13; Revelation 12:11).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Why do some believers still struggle with guilt and fear after benefitting from Jesus’ sacrifice?
LESSON OUTLINE 2: REQUIREMENTS TO BE A BENEFICIARY
- Salvation: This is a major prerequisite (John 1:12). The blood of Jesus only works for those who belong to Him. You must repent, believe in Jesus, and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour before you can partake of His blood (Ephesians 1:7).
- Obedience: You must be ready to obey God through His word (Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 6:16-18).
- Confession and Testimony: This is about declaring faith in Christ, confessing what His blood has done in your life, and testifying about your salvation and redemption (Romans 10:9-10; Revelation 12:11).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Why are salvation and confession essential before anyone benefits from Jesus’ blood?
CONCLUSION: Victorious Christians are bold and unashamed to declare the name of Jesus Christ and the power in His blood.
EVALUATION: State at least seven benefits of the blood of Jesus.
CLOSING PRAYER: Jesus, You shed Your blood for me; please let Your blood work wonders in my life.
ASSIGNMENT: List five (5) situations in a believer’s life where the power of the blood of Jesus can be declared or applied (2×5=10 Marks).
