MFM Daily Devotional Message Monday 23rd November 2026.
The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul because of his disobedience. It is a terrible thing indeed to lose the presence of God. Living without the divine presence is like living in hell and this is quite unfortunate. When the Spirit of God comes upon a man, He comes loudly but unfortunately, when He departs, it is usually quiet. The fire goes out gradually until it becomes cold ashes. Saul had all the spectacular signs when the Spirit of God came upon him for the assignment of the kingdom but when He left him, he was left with a troubling sickness.
Just like in the case of Samson who didn’t know that the Spirit of God had left him. May the presence of God not depart from you, in Jesus’ name. Saul was replaced by heaven because he was found to be no longer loyal or useful. It is a sad thing indeed when a man occupies a physical throne but has been replaced in the spirit realm which actually controls the physical realm. Such a man is a disaster waiting to happen. This is why leaders should always commit their thrones to God so that their positions would not be hijacked.
Some Bible scholars say that Saul was depressed but what the Bible actually says is that he was troubled by an evil spirit which the Lord Himself sent. God can use evil spirits to trouble a man because He is the Father of spirits, whether good or evil. Beloved, this fate that befell Saul calls for introspection and deep examination of your life. Just like the Psalmist, it is important to pray regularly, “Search me, O God, and know my ways” (Psalm 139:23). Ask the Lord to reveal to you any area in which you have strayed and show you His mercy. No man can live successfully without the divine presence. May you not lose the presence of God, in Jesus’ name.
