“For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.”
In today’s Bible reading, God gave clear instructions to the Israelites on keeping their environment clean. He did this because cleanliness supports good hygiene and healthy living.
When my children were younger, I made sure they cleaned their rooms thoroughly every Saturday, paying special attention to places like fans, window frames, the tops of wardrobes, under beds, and the toilets.
Even though your room is a private space that not everyone sees, it should not be neglected. The things we do not see are just as important as the things we do see—sometimes even more.
For example, you do not see your liver or intestines, yet they perform vital functions that keep you alive. Taking care of the unseen and private areas of your life greatly improves your health and overall well-being.
My dear child, people may not praise you for keeping your bedroom tidy, but maintaining good hygiene habits will help you live a healthier and happier life.
