“Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
When someone takes anything that belongs to another person without permission, that act is called stealing.
Years ago, when I was a lecturer at the University of Lagos, I needed to mail a letter but didn’t have an envelope. I thought of taking one from the department’s store. Immediately, God asked me, “Is it yours?”
I tried to justify myself by saying envelopes were cheap and that what I wanted to do was important. But God replied, “If it is cheap, go and buy yours.”
From that day, I never used official items for personal purposes again.
God is very particular about the behaviour of His children — even in the smallest matters. Because He is perfect, He expects His children to walk in honesty and integrity.
Dear child, be careful never to take or use what does not belong to you without permission. The owner may call you a thief, and even if no one discovers it, God sees everything. Remember today’s memory verse: no thief will enter the kingdom of God.
