Sermon: 2 Timothy 3:10–12 (NKJV)
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
LOVE WORTH FINDING DEVOTIONAL – MESSAGE FOR TODAY.
When you receive Jesus Christ, you receive suffering. You can’t say, “I want to be a Christian. I want Jesus Christ as my Lord, I want Him as my Savior, I want Him as my companion, I want His fullness, I want His grace, I want His love, but I’m not going to suffer with Him.” Jesus said, “I’ve chosen you out of the world.” The reason that a Christian is persecuted is for righteousness’ sake.
Following Christ and becoming like Him through the power of the Holy Spirit has caused you to look differently from the world. A Christian is also persecuted for the Lord’s sake. When you begin to be changed by Christ, you will be filled with a burning, blazing, passionate love for Him that will not back up, let up, or shut up, and this world will come down on you like a hammer. The persecution will come, the pushback will happen, but when you are living for Him and changed by Him, it is always worth it.
