ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 7TH AUGUST 2026.
The words of Jesus Christ in John 16:33 “… in this world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” is a practical situation of the experience of Apostle Paul for his ministry towards the young church at Thessalonica (Acts 17:5-9). Though, they were pre-warned of the coming persecution, still the faith of the young brethren was unknown.
So, Paul considered it wise to send Timothy to the Church to stimulate their zeal in Christ again. This shows leadership accountability (v. 1). Timothy provided strength and encouragement to the young Church (v. 2). This effort worked to rescue those who might have fallen away (v. 3). They fought to ensure that their work had not been in vain (vv. 4-5).
Timothy brought back a positive report of the Church to Paul and the brethren, of their growth and how they longed to see them (v. 6). How do you respond to challenges which you think would come in the lives of young brethren in our churches and society? (Gal. 6:2). It is the duty and responsibilities of Christian leaders to encourage and strengthen young believers by guiding and directing them on the right path and preventing them from falling. It is important that we review our commitment and service to the Lord along this line, daily.
