DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Paul Lee Tan once shared a striking illustration titled The Devil’s Best Tool. In the story, the devil displayed his tools for sale at an auction.
Among them was one marked “Not for sale.” When asked why, he replied that he could spare all others except this one—Discouragement—because it allows him access to hearts that would otherwise be unreachable.
In today’s passage, the psalmist vividly expresses deep anguish, battling discouragement as he cries unto God amid intense affliction.
Although deliverance seemed delayed, he did not give up. Instead, he demonstrated the power of persistent prayer by pouring out his heart before God, trusting Him for intervention.
Life experiences show that no one is exempt from trials—loneliness, sickness, loss, fear, and economic pressure can overwhelm even the strongest individuals.
When prayers seem unanswered and heaven appears silent, discouragement may creep in. However, those moments demand greater persistence and fervency, because God has promised to answer those who seek Him wholeheartedly.
Crying unto God in times of trouble is not a sign of weakness; rather, it reflects confidence in God’s unfailing ability to help. When we take our burdens to God in prayer, we shut the door against discouragement and deny the devil access to our hearts.
