DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
This concluding chapter of Daniel unveils God’s final revelations concerning eschatological events and His dealings with the nation of Israel. The prophecy focuses on a period described across Scripture as “the time of Jacob’s trouble”—a season of unprecedented distress that will occur in the latter days.
Daniel records that “there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation” (Daniel 12:1). References to this same period appear in Daniel 7:25; Daniel 9:27; Revelation 11:2–3; Revelation 12:6,14; and Revelation 13:5.
Daniel was deeply troubled by the visions he received, especially the intense suffering that would befall his people. His sorrow reflects a heart burdened for the survival and ultimate redemption of Israel.
This concern stands as a lesson for believers today—to carry a burden for souls and for God’s prophetic purposes to be fulfilled.
These events will unfold after the rapture of the Church, during the reign of the Antichrist, particularly in the latter half of the Great Tribulation. While the affliction will affect the whole world, Israel will experience its most severe impact.
Yet, destruction will not be Israel’s end. Deliverance will come when the Messiah appears at His Second Advent to establish His millennial reign. At that time, Israel will mourn deeply for rejecting Him at His first coming.
This prophetic truth highlights the urgency of timely decision for Christ. We are presently in the Church Age, the dispensation of grace.
Those who are saved by faith in Christ and live righteously will be caught up in the rapture. Anyone who rejects salvation now has no assurance of surviving the horrors of the Great Tribulation or escaping eternal judgment.
Therefore, now is the acceptable time—to embrace salvation, live in holiness, and proclaim the gospel so others may escape the wrath to come.
