DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Franz Kafka, a 20th-century writer, once wrote: “Only our concept of time makes it possible for us to speak of the day of judgment by that name; in reality it is summary court in perpetual session.” By this, he implied that human beings ought to evaluate their lives daily in the light of the final judgment.
During the time of Prophet Malachi, the Jews had returned from exile but were experiencing spiritual decline and various adversities. Doubt crept into their hearts, and many questioned God’s love and the benefit of serving Him.
Although the temple had been rebuilt, sacrifices restored, and the Law publicly read again through Ezra, subtle backsliding had set in—especially among the priests and the people.
Spiritual complacency and neglect became widespread. In response, God sent Malachi to remind them of the certainty of His coming and the urgent call to repentance.
As we consider the flow of history today, the imminence of the end of time—and the end of individual lives—is undeniable. The repeated biblical warnings about readiness for the Day of the Lord leave no room for indecision.
Both believers and unbelievers are aware that eternity is at stake. Those who ignore these warnings and reject salvation through Christ will have no one else to blame for the consequences of their choices.
Believers, as wise virgins, must seek more grace, walk in holiness, and live in constant readiness for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bridegroom will come for His own before divine judgment is poured out on a disobedient world.
