DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
A heart-touching story is told of a thirteen-year-old girl who listened closely to her pastor as he preached about God’s extraordinary love — the love that made Him give the world His very best gift: Jesus Christ, who willingly sacrificed His life on the Cross.
The message pierced her heart. She longed to give something in return to God, but she had no money. Then she realised there was one gift she could offer — herself. As the offering plate came to her, she asked the usher to lower it… lower… and lower, until it touched the floor. Then she stepped into it and stood there. She offered God the greatest gift she had: her entire life.
What a powerful picture of giving God our very best!
In today’s passage, God instructs the Levites to present the best of their offerings — the hallowed part — to Him. This principle still applies to believers today. We are not to give God leftovers, excuses, or half-hearted service. He deserves:
our best years,
our best energy,
our best time,
our best devotion,
our best resources,
our best obedience.
As hymn writer Howard Benjamin Grose beautifully said:
“Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth;
Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardour
Into the battle for truth.”
Jesus showed the greatest expression of love by giving us His life — the best Heaven had. In return, He calls us to give Him our all — heart, mind, talents, time, and treasures. This is expressed through obedience, evangelism, disciple-making, compassion, service, and consistent devotion.
When you give God your best, you will experience deeper fellowship, greater transformation, and overflowing satisfaction in Him.
