DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

The Pulpit Bible Commentary insightfully notes:
“Judah walked in the way of her sister; therefore, she must drink from her sister’s cup. Companions in guilt will be companions in doom.”

This means that sharing in another’s sin automatically exposes one to sharing in their punishment. Privileges, religious background, or spiritual history cannot protect anyone who chooses a path of disobedience.

Israel (Samaria) repeatedly sinned and formed ungodly alliances with heathen nations. These nations eventually became instruments of God’s judgment against her. Judah (Jerusalem), instead of learning from Israel’s downfall, followed her immoral path. She adopted her sister’s corrupt practices and fell under similar condemnation.

Judah had God’s law. She knew God’s standards. Her sins were not accidental—they were deliberate, conscious, and rebellious. She chose to embrace idolatry, immorality, and unholy alliances, rejecting the warnings God sent through His prophets. As a result, she drank the same bitter cup of judgment that Israel drank.

Today, many still follow the same pattern. They blame friends, family, society, or upbringing for their sinful lifestyles. Yet God holds each person responsible for their actions. Yes, tempters will be judged—but those who give in to temptation will also face judgment. You cannot outsource the blame for your decisions.

However, God’s mercy is still available. No matter how far one has gone, repentance and faith in Jesus Christ provide a way back. The grace of God that delivers from sin is sufficient for all who sincerely turn to Him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Judgment is always waiting at the end of a sinful path.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Ezekiel 39–42
