DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, a man named Steven Croft remarked, “Fear has been a feature of our journey through COVID-19 — fear of the disease itself and its consequences; fear of death and dying; fear of the effects on our families.” Indeed, fear often thrives in times of uncertainty and danger. Yet, amid all threats, God’s presence and promises assure His people of victory and peace.
In today’s passage, God comforts Israel, assuring them that they have no reason to fear because He is with them. Unlike the pagan nations who worship powerless idols, Israel served the living God, who had chosen them as His special people.
God reminded them of His covenant with Abraham and reaffirmed His faithfulness to those He called His “servants.” Their protection and blessing did not come from their own merit but from God’s grace and covenant love.
The prophet Isaiah often highlighted this contrast between the helplessness of idols and the power of the true God. While false gods had to be carried by men, the Lord carried and sustained His people. He promised to strengthen, help, and uphold them, even when they felt weak or insignificant.
In the New Testament, believers in Christ are included in this promise through faith in Him (Galatians 3:13–14). As heirs of Abraham’s blessings, Christians can rest assured of God’s abiding presence, protection, and strength. Even when we face trials, weaknesses, or fears, God’s hand sustains us. He transforms our frailty into strength and equips us to serve Him faithfully.
How comforting it is to know that we are never alone! God walks with us through every circumstance, guiding, protecting, and empowering us daily.
