It is God’s prerogative to distribute grace to His children, yet this grace is not given in equal measure. Scripture declares that grace is apportioned differently, making each Christian unique in expression and function. The good news is that one can increase in grace.
One key to increasing grace is humility. Pride provokes resistance from God. The word “proud” comes from the Greek antitassomai, meaning “to set oneself against.” It paints the picture of a soldier marching in the opposite direction from the rest of the army, forcing the entire army to stand against him.
In the same way, when a person walks in pride, they position themselves against God. The Lord actively resists and frustrates anything birthed from pride. Pride is like going against the tide; progress becomes difficult and results are hindered. But humility attracts divine assistance, lifting a person into greater grace and favour.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, give me a humble and teachable spirit, in Jesus’ mighty name.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I walk in humility and receive abundant grace. Every resistance is broken, and I move forward with divine ease. God’s favour distinguishes my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
