David Jeremiah Daily Devotional for Today 1st September 2024
Before the Exodus, the Hebrew slaves lived under the heel of Egyptian pharaohs. Suddenly, for a period of time, they witnessed the supernatural intervention of God in their lives. Ten plagues afflicted Egypt: blood, frogs, lice, flies, death of livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn of man and beast.
What must they have thought? But that wasn’t all. When the pharaoh finally let them leave, they saw the destruction of the Egyptian army in the waters of the Red Sea—waters parted miraculously by the hand of God. They went from centuries of “natural” to months of “supernatural.” No wonder the first thing Moses did after the deliverance through the Red Sea was to lead the people in a song of praise to God: “Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
God is a wonder-working God, a truth Moses would remind the people of often (Deuteronomy 4:32-40). Let God’s wonders impact the challenges you face.
Great God of wonders, all thy ways are matchless, godlike, and divine; but the fair glories of thy grace, more godlike and unrivaled shine.
