ANGLICAN COMMUNION DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY.
The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 30th November 2024 Is “Fishers Of Men”
Read: Matthew 4: 18-22(NKJV)
18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,
22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 30TH NOVEMBER 2024.
The first four disciples of Jesus were fishermen and from two families-that is, each pair were brothers. Their acceptance of the call was immediate -they left their current occupation and followed Jesus! On the surface, they were leaving the known to the unknown. One of these disciples was Andrew who is celebrated today. Jesus declared He was going to make them ‘fishers of men’ – those who will seek and bring in people into the kingdom of heaven.
John’s account of the story indicated that Jesus called Andrew first while Andrew invited his brother, Peter, to Jesus (John 1: 35-42). The most important thing is that both of them answered the call. Like Andrew, we all should be ready to join the army of the Lord to seek for lost souls. Let us start with members of our household and launch out. It may cost us leaving our profession/vocation to join full-time. It can also be done part-time. You can support with your resources or be a prayer partner.
No matter the area you are involved in, do it with all your might. The only thing keeping Jesus from coming back is the Gospel reaching everyone in the world, ‘as a witness’ (Matt. 24: 14). The internet is one of the fastest means to send information in the world today. Let us engage it and other means to ensure this Gospel gets to all the unreached places of the world as modern ‘fishers of men.’
PRAYER: Lord, you have called us as modern fishers of men, may we not disappoint You.
